Space Junkie

I was born just a couple of months before Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. I clearly was too young to remember, but somehow that event seemed to have a profound impact on my life. I remember fondly pondering the universe on a regular basis as a grade-school kid (everything I knew had limits, so how could space go on forever?). I also followed along as the shuttle program was developed and finally put into operation. I've been hooked ever since. My labor of love — SOAR Magazine — reflects that during the 15 years I published various versions.

I took this photograph of Space Shuttle Atlantis landing at Edwards Air Force Base to conclude mission STS-117. It was the 51st shuttle landing in California and one of several that I've had the opportunity to cover.
